Teidah’s Story: A Gentle Soul Waiting for Kindness

❤️ A Dog Who Survived Loneliness and Still Believes in Hope ❤️

Meet Teidah.

Her story is one of survival, heartbreak, and the quiet hope that one day life can still become better.

Teidah arrived at the “Big Heart” shelter near Kyiv in the spring of 2021, but her journey began long before that. She once lived in a small rural shelter together with her siblings. It wasn’t a perfect life, but it was the only world she knew—a place with familiar faces, routines, and someone who cared for her.

Then, everything changed.

The owner of the shelter unexpectedly passed away, and suddenly the dogs were left completely alone.

Teidah and the other dogs found themselves in an empty yard beside an abandoned house. Day after day, they waited for someone to come back. But nobody came.

For months, they survived on their own. They had little food, no care, and no understanding of why their world had suddenly become so frightening and empty. They faced hunger, uncertainty, and loneliness that no animal should ever experience.

Teidah survived, but those long months of abandonment left deep scars on her heart.

Because of what she endured, she struggles to trust people. Human kindness is something she has barely known in her life. She doesn’t understand that a hand reaching toward her could bring comfort rather than fear.

Yet despite everything she has been through, Teidah remains incredibly gentle.

She is not aggressive. She doesn’t lash out or seek conflict. Instead, she is calm, balanced, and peaceful. She gets along beautifully with other animals and is happiest in the company of other dogs. They are the ones who make her feel safe.

But when a person approaches and tries to pet her, fear takes over. Her body becomes tense, and all she wants is to run away.

As if abandonment wasn’t enough, Teidah faced another enormous challenge during the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

To keep her safe, she had to be evacuated from the shelter near Kyiv to our kennel near the Polish border and later moved to paid temporary housing. Once again, her world changed completely. Once again, she had to leave everything familiar behind.

Through every move and every difficult moment, we have done everything possible to protect her and give her stability.

Teidah is the kind of dog who needs extraordinary patience, understanding, and unconditional love. She may never become the dog who runs into someone’s arms or begs for attention. We don’t know if there is a family out there willing to give her all the time she needs and accept her exactly as she is.

But we do know one thing:

Teidah deserves a chance.

She deserves a safe place to sleep, regular meals, medical care, and a peaceful life where she never has to feel abandoned again. She deserves to know that even if she is still afraid, there are people who care about her.
