Teidah Is Still Waiting to Feel Safe

Teidah Is Still Waiting to Feel Safe

❤️ Meet Teidah — a quiet, gentle soul who has spent most of her life learning how to survive, but very little about what it means to feel truly loved.

Her story is not one of dramatic rescues or instant happy endings. It is a story of loneliness, fear, and the silent hope that maybe one day someone will show her kindness without expecting anything in return.

Teidah arrived at the “Big Heart” shelter near Kyiv in the spring of 2021, but before that, her life was very different. She had lived in a small rural shelter together with her siblings, cared for by the shelter owner who was their entire world.

Then, suddenly, everything changed.

The owner unexpectedly passed away, and the dogs were left completely alone.

No one came back for them.
No one explained why their lives had fallen apart.

Teidah and the other dogs remained trapped in an empty yard beside an abandoned house, trying to survive on their own for months. They had no regular food, no protection, and no human comfort. Every day became a struggle filled with uncertainty and fear.

For Teidah, those months left wounds that cannot be seen.

She survived physically, but emotionally, something inside her broke. Since then, trusting people has become incredibly difficult for her. She doesn’t understand affection or gentle touch the way many dogs do. When someone tries to pet her, her body tenses with fear, and her first instinct is to run away.

And yet — despite everything she has experienced — Teidah has never become aggressive.

She is calm, peaceful, and incredibly gentle. She gets along beautifully with other animals and never seeks conflict. In many ways, it feels as though she simply wants to exist quietly in a world that has rarely been kind to her.

Then came another tragedy: the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Once again, Teidah’s fragile sense of safety disappeared overnight. She had to be evacuated from the shelter near Kyiv to a kennel near the Polish border, and later moved to temporary paid housing so she could remain safe during the war.

Through every move, every frightening change, and every uncertain moment, one thing remained the same: Teidah still had no one truly her own.

Dogs like Teidah are often the hardest to help because healing emotional trauma takes time — sometimes years. She needs extraordinary patience, understanding, and a person willing to accept her exactly as she is, without pressure or expectations.

We honestly do not know if a forever family will ever come for her.

But until that day arrives, we want to give her something she has rarely had in life:
Safety.
Peace.
Consistency.
And gentle care without fear.

That is why Teidah is looking for a sponsor. ❤️

By sponsoring her, you can help provide food, veterinary care, safe housing, and the quiet stability she desperately needs. Even if she still struggles to trust humans, your kindness can help ensure that the rest of her life is filled with comfort instead of survival.

Teidah may never become the kind of dog who runs happily into strangers’ arms.
But she still deserves love.
She still deserves safety.
And she still deserves a place in this world. 🥺
