A Gentle Soul Still Waiting: Teidah’s Story of Hope

Teidah is a dog who has endured loneliness and fear — yet still holds onto a quiet hope for kindness. Today, she is looking for a sponsor ❤️

Her story is both heartbreaking and inspiring. Teidah arrived at the “Big Heart” shelter near Kyiv in the spring of 2021, but before that, she lived in a small rural shelter with her siblings. Everything changed when the shelter’s owner suddenly passed away, leaving the dogs completely alone.

For months, Teidah and the others were left behind in an empty yard beside an abandoned house. No food, no care, no human presence — just fear and uncertainty. They had to survive on their own, not understanding why their world had suddenly become so cold and empty. Teidah made it through, but that experience left a deep emotional scar.

Since then, she has struggled to trust people. She doesn’t know what it means to feel safe with a human touch. Still, Teidah is not aggressive — quite the opposite. She is calm, gentle, and well-balanced. She gets along peacefully with other animals and avoids conflict. But when a person comes close, she becomes tense and tries to move away. Her fear runs deep.

During the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Teidah faced yet another challenge. She was evacuated from the shelter near Kyiv to a safer place near the Polish border, and later moved to temporary paid housing. Every step was taken to protect her and keep her safe in an uncertain time.

Teidah needs something very special — patience, understanding, and quiet love. It may take a long time for her to fully trust, and we don’t know if a family will be ready to take that journey with her. But until that day comes, we want to give her a life where she feels secure and cared for.
