A Quiet Soul Still Waiting: Teidah’s Story of Hope

Meet Teidah — a gentle, fragile soul who has endured more than most… and still quietly hopes for kindness ✨

Her story is one of survival, loss, and silent resilience. Teidah arrived at the “Big Heart” shelter near Kyiv in the spring of 2021. Before that, she lived in a small rural shelter with her siblings — a simple life that suddenly collapsed when the shelter’s owner passed away. Overnight, the dogs were left completely alone.

Teidah and the others found themselves trapped in an empty yard beside an abandoned house. No food, no care, no familiar faces — only fear and uncertainty. For months, they survived as best they could, not understanding why their world had become so cold and empty. Teidah made it through… but that loneliness left a deep, lasting imprint on her heart.

Since then, trust has been difficult for her. Teidah doesn’t yet understand what it means to feel safe with people. When someone reaches out to touch her, she tenses and tries to step away. And yet, despite her fear, she carries no aggression. She is calm, balanced, and incredibly gentle — a dog who avoids conflict and lives peacefully alongside other animals.

Her journey didn’t end there. During the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Teidah once again faced uncertainty. She was evacuated from the Kyiv region to a safer place near the Polish border, and later moved into temporary housing. Every step was taken to protect her and give her a chance to feel safe again.

Teidah is not an easy dog — she needs time, patience, and a deep understanding. She may never be the kind of dog who runs into your arms. But she is the kind who, given love and stability, will quietly bloom in her own way.

We don’t know if there will be a family ready to walk this path with her. But until that day comes, we are committed to giving her a life filled with safety, care, and peace. Because Teidah deserves that chance. She deserves to belong.
