Teidah’s Long Road from Loneliness to Hope — Will You Become Her Sponsor?
Some dogs have known love and lost it. Others, like Teidah, have spent most of their lives wondering what love even feels like.
Teidah came to the “Big Heart” shelter near Kyiv in the spring of 2021. Before that, she lived in a small rural shelter together with her siblings. It was the only world she knew — until everything suddenly changed.
The woman who cared for the dogs unexpectedly passed away, and the shelter was left without anyone to look after them. Teidah and the other dogs found themselves alone in an empty yard beside an abandoned house.
For months, they had to survive without regular food, human care, or protection. The dogs who had once known a familiar routine were suddenly left to fend for themselves. They were frightened and confused, with no way of understanding why the people they depended on were gone.
Teidah survived those difficult months, but the experience changed her forever.
Today, she still finds it very difficult to trust people. Human kindness is something she has never truly learned to accept. When someone reaches out to pet her, she becomes tense and immediately wants to escape.
And yet, Teidah is not aggressive or dangerous. Quite the opposite.
She is a calm, gentle, and well-balanced dog who gets along peacefully with other animals. She does not seek conflict and simply prefers to keep her distance from people. Behind her fear is a quiet soul who has spent far too much of her life feeling unsafe.
Then came another frightening chapter.
When Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine began, Teidah once again had to leave everything familiar behind. She was evacuated from the shelter near Kyiv to our kennel close to the Polish border and later moved to paid temporary housing.
We have done everything we could to keep her safe.
But safety is only the beginning. Teidah also needs time.
She may never become the kind of dog who happily runs into a stranger’s arms. She may need months or even years before she feels comfortable enough to accept human touch. We simply cannot know what her future holds.
What we do know is that she deserves to have one.
Until Teidah finds a patient and understanding family — if that day comes — we want to give her the peaceful, secure life she has been missing for so long.
Would you consider becoming Teidah’s sponsor? 🙏
Your support can help provide her with food, veterinary care, temporary housing, and everything else she needs to live safely and without fear.
Teidah may be a quiet dog who keeps her distance, but her life still matters. She deserves to wake up each day knowing that she is safe, cared for, and not alone.
Sometimes, helping a dog doesn’t mean changing everything overnight.
Sometimes, it simply means giving them the chance to finally feel safe.
Please become Teidah’s sponsor and help us continue caring for her. ❤️
