Three Years Without Pavlo, Never Forgotten

Three Years Without Pavlo, Never Forgotten

💔 Three Years Without Pavlo

Some people leave behind memories.

Others leave behind a legacy that continues to change lives long after they are gone.

On May 24th, we marked three years since the loss of our dear friend, teammate, rescuer, and the heart of our Zhytomyr kennel — Pavlo.

Even now, three years later, it is difficult to put into words just how much he meant to the animals he saved, the people he inspired, and everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Pavlo was not simply someone who loved animals.

He lived for them.

For him, every life mattered — especially the lives that others overlooked. The abandoned dogs no one wanted. The frightened cats left behind. The sick, injured, and forgotten animals that many people walked past without a second glance.

Where others saw a problem, Pavlo saw a life worth saving.

Together with his wife, Margo, he dedicated countless years to caring for animals in need. Their home, their time, and their hearts were always open to those who had nowhere else to go. Day after day, they provided food, medical care, shelter, and love to dozens of dogs and cats.

It wasn’t easy.

Animal rescue never is.

There were long days, sleepless nights, difficult decisions, and endless challenges. Yet no matter how exhausted he was, Pavlo always found room for one more animal who needed help.

That was simply who he was.

When the full-scale war began and chaos spread across Ukraine, thousands of animals suddenly found themselves abandoned, trapped, or left behind in unimaginable conditions.

Many people were fleeing for safety.

Pavlo was running toward danger.

He traveled wherever help was needed, often under incredibly difficult circumstances. He rescued animals from dangerous areas, delivered supplies, evacuated dogs and cats, and gave hope to those who had none.

For him, there was never a question of whether he should help.

The answer was always yes.

No distance was too far.
No rescue was too difficult.
No life was too small to matter.

Even in the final days of his life, Pavlo remained true to himself.

Just days before his passing, he rescued another dog from what would almost certainly have been a tragic end. While many people would have rested, Pavlo was still doing what he had always done — fighting for animals who couldn’t fight for themselves.

That single act says everything about the kind of person he was.

Not because it was extraordinary for him.

But because it was ordinary.

Helping animals wasn’t something Pavlo occasionally did. It was the way he lived every day.

Today, many of the dogs and cats he rescued are living safe and happy lives. Some have found loving homes in Ukraine. Others have traveled across the world to families who adore them. Many of those stories exist because Pavlo refused to give up on an animal when everyone else had.

His impact lives on in every life he saved.

In every wagging tail.
In every rescued animal sleeping safely tonight.
In every family whose beloved pet is alive because of his compassion.

Three years have passed, but Pavlo’s presence is still felt every day.

We miss his kindness.
We miss his dedication.
We miss his unwavering belief that every animal deserves a chance.

Thank you, Pavlo.

For every rescue.
For every life you touched.
For every animal you refused to leave behind.

You are deeply missed, endlessly appreciated, and forever remembered. 🐾❤️
