From Ukraine to a New Life in New York
From Ukraine to a New Life in New York
๐พ A beautiful update on Smilik โ now living his happiest life in New York! ๐
Stories like this remind us why rescue matters so much.
Not long ago, Smilik was just another vulnerable dog in Ukraine whose future was uncertain. Like so many animals affected by war, he needed safety, stability, and someone willing to give him a second chance at life.
Today, everything has changed.
Smilik was adopted by our teammate Vika, who now lives in the United States, and he is now living the kind of life every rescue dog dreams about โ safe, loved, protected, and fully part of a family. ๐ถ
Seeing him now, itโs hard to believe how far he has come.
No more fear. No more uncertainty. No more surviving day by day.
Instead, Smilik now spends his days surrounded by love, comfort, and the simple joys every dog deserves โ soft beds, caring people, warm cuddles, and a home where he truly belongs.
One of the sweetest recent moments was this adorable Motherโs Day card made for his mommy, Vika. ๐ธ Itโs such a small but emotional reminder that rescue dogs are not โjust pets.โ They become family. They heal, trust again, and create bonds so deep that they change lives on both sides.
And Smilik isnโt alone in his new chapter.
The other dog in the photo, Martin, is also a rescue from Ukraine โ another innocent life forever changed by war. Both dogs once needed saving. Both once faced uncertainty and hardship. And now, seeing them together in a peaceful home, happy and loved, feels almost impossible to describe.
Moments like this mean everything to us.
Because behind every successful adoption is a journey filled with fear, patience, hope, and people who refused to give up on an animal in need. Rescue work can be heartbreaking, exhausting, and emotional, but updates like this remind us that every effort is worth it.
Smilik and Martin now have what every rescue animal deserves:
A safe home.
A loving family.
And a future filled with happiness instead of fear.
Thank you to everyone who supports rescue dogs from Ukraine and helps make stories like this possible. ๐๐พ
