Terra Needs a Sponsor: Help a Scared Soul Find Peace

Our Terra is in need of a sponsor — someone willing to stand by her and help change her world. 🙏
Terra is a large and majestic Alabai, a breed known for strength and independence. But behind her intimidating appearance is a deeply frightened dog who has never truly known love or security.

Most of Terra’s life was spent in a kennel alongside her sister, likely without proper care, attention, or training. When their previous owners gave them up, Terra’s sister found a new home — but Terra was left behind, suddenly alone and without the only family she had ever known.

When Terra arrived at our shelter, her adjustment was extremely difficult. She trusts only one person — Katya, a member of our team who brought her here. With Katya, Terra feels safe enough to walk, eat, and accept care. With everyone else, fear takes over. She reacts defensively, sometimes aggressively, because that is the only way she knows how to protect herself.

Adding to her challenges, Terra has hearing problems, which increase her anxiety and make human interaction even more stressful. A dog raised with love does not grow up this afraid — Terra’s behavior is not cruelty, it is the result of neglect and emotional pain. She is not a monster; she is a victim.

Alabais are natural guardians: loyal, strong-willed, and highly independent. Terra reflects all of these traits. She needs time, patience, and ideally the guidance of an experienced trainer who understands her breed and can help her work through fear instead of reacting with aggression.

Finding Terra a forever home may be very difficult. She is a large dog with complex needs, and we cannot promise that adoption will ever be possible. But we can promise this: as long as she is with us, we will do everything we can to give her safety, respect, and a peaceful life.
