She Survived the Cold, the Darkness, and the Pain - Because Someone Chose to Care
During one of the coldest winter days, a quiet cry for help appeared on Facebook.
A woman wrote that a 12-year-old boy had come to her with a story he couldn’t forget. He had seen a dog with a severely injured leg — and he simply couldn’t walk past.
Together, they went searching.
They found her hidden deep inside a narrow burrow. In complete darkness and freezing cold, the dog had given birth to her puppies. She was in terrible pain, terrified, and exhausted. Her injury was severe, and every movement hurt. Still, she tried to protect her babies — shaking, hiding, trusting no one.
For days, no help came.
Time passed. Her condition kept getting worse.
Eventually, it became clear: waiting any longer would cost lives.
Our team contacted the incredible rescuers from KARG, who save animals day and night in Kyiv and the surrounding region. They responded immediately.
The rescuers climbed down into the burrow.
They carefully pulled out the puppies.
They managed to catch the mother dog.
Five puppies were found.
💔 Only two were still alive.
Then came another devastating discovery.
By the time help arrived, the dog had already lost her injured leg.
And yet — she survived.
She was rushed to a veterinary clinic and later placed in foster care together with her puppies. For the first time in a long while, she was warm. Safe. No longer in pain or fear.
She survived not because the world is always kind.
But because a boy didn’t look away.
Because a woman spoke up.
Because someone stopped scrolling.
Because rescuers came when it mattered most.
And because together, we decided:
this story would not end in darkness.
