Rescue Mission to Zaporizhzhia - Van Damaged on the Way
A Rescue Mission That Didn’t Go as Planned – But We Didn’t Give Up 🐾
Recently, our team traveled to Zaporizhzhia after learning that a local animal shelter had been damaged by bombing. Many dogs were left in difficult conditions, and we knew we could not simply stand by.
Our organization has always tried to help whenever animals are in danger. This time, Mendy Allen made the decision to bring several dogs from the affected shelter to safety.
We set out on the long road to Zaporizhzhia, determined to help.
But during the journey, something unexpected happened.
Because of extremely dangerous weather conditions, our van lost control on black ice and slid off the road. It was a frightening moment. Thankfully, no one was injured, and everyone in the vehicle was safe.
However, the van was badly damaged and now requires serious repairs.
We already had to spend a significant amount of money just to recover the vehicle. The tow truck and transportation back to Kyiv alone cost us a large sum, and the repairs will add even more to the bill.
The difficult truth is that this van is essential to everything we do.
It delivers food, supplies, and medicine to our shelter. It takes animals to veterinary appointments. It carries rescue dogs to safety. And it is also the vehicle our director Katya uses to transport lucky dogs who have found loving homes in Europe.
This van is truly the legs of our rescue mission.
Without it, many of the daily tasks that keep our animals safe become incredibly difficult.
Right now, we urgently need your help to repair our only rescue van so we can continue doing the work these animals depend on.
Every contribution brings us closer to getting back on the road and continuing our lifesaving missions.
Despite everything that happened, we still completed the rescue.
Three dogs from Zaporizhzhia were safely brought to our shelter, and they are now recovering and doing well. That alone reminds us why we keep going, even when the road becomes difficult.
Thank you to everyone who supports our work and believes in our mission. Your kindness makes every rescue possible. 💛🐾
