Meet Katya: A Heart Behind Rescue Dogs from Ukraine

To celebrate reaching 10,000 Facebook followers, we’re highlighting the incredible people who make our mission possible — the everyday heroes behind the scenes who help rescue dogs from Ukraine 🐾

Today, we want to introduce you to Katya — a tireless rescuer, a trusted friend, and one of the strongest hearts on our team.

Her journey with us began in 2018. Mandy, our director, had just returned to the U.S. and was pregnant when she received a heartfelt message. It was from Katya, who was in Bila Tserkva, overwhelmed by the number of strays and begging for help. She was doing everything she could — but she was alone.

That one message sparked a partnership that’s now spanned years. In fact, the very first dog we ever sent to the U.S. came from Katya — a dog she had pulled from the streets and refused to give up on.

Since then, Katya has become a pillar of our rescue. Her strength, loyalty, and unshakable love for animals are the reason so many lives have been saved. She never turns away from a dog in need.

💛 Today, we’re raising funds to bring Lordy to his forever home in the U.S. and to complete essential renovations at our shelter — so we can keep giving second chances to animals who need them most.
