Kyiv Hit by Drones and Missiles After Putin–Trump Call
Just hours after a phone call between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, Kyiv experienced one of its most intense attacks in recent weeks. The Ukrainian capital was targeted overnight by a wave of drones and missiles, resulting in over 20 people injured. Debris from the intercepted projectiles rained down on five different districts, damaging homes, vehicles, and essential infrastructure — including parts of the railway network.
The aftermath was felt not only in destruction but also in the air. Fires sparked by the explosions sent thick smoke into the atmosphere, causing a spike in pollution levels across the city. Residents woke up not just to the sounds of sirens and blasts, but also to an environment thick with toxic air.
As emergency crews continue to clear the debris and treat the injured, the scale of the damage is still being assessed. This attack serves as a grim reminder of how quickly political developments can escalate into violence on the ground.
