Keiko's Remarkable Rescue: A Tale of Compassion

Just two days before our cherished Pavlo, the manager of our Zhytomyr kennel, passed away, he performed a heroic act by rescuing Keiko. This sweet dog had wandered into a village in dire need of help and protection, only to find himself subjected to cruelty at the hands of a heartless woman who viciously struck him with a stick and attempted to drive him away. Despite Keiko’s innocence, she reported him to the village head, who, for a mere bottle of vodka, dispatched an animal executioner 😰🤯

Pavlo and his wife received word of this harrowing situation in the nick of time and, against all odds, saved Keiko from the clutches of death. When they reached the location, Keiko was already sequestered in a barn, accompanied by the very man who intended to mercilessly end his life using a bag and a metal rod. Pavlo’s heroic intervention ensured Keiko’s survival, and he brought Keiko to their already overcrowded home, housing over 70 animals. Pavlo declared, “What choice did we have? Leaving an innocent dog to perish was inconceivable” 🥺

Last week, our dedicated teammate Katya and Danish volunteers embarked on a journey to Zhytomyr, rescuing the final seven of Pavlo’s dogs, including Keiko, and relocating them to our Kyiv house. Keiko, known for his exceptional kindness and gentleness, is now in dire need of a comprehensive examination and treatment due to his deteriorating condition.
