From War-Torn Bakhmut to California: Mickey Finds a New Home

From Ruins to Rescue: Mickey’s Journey to His Forever Home 🐾❤️

After surviving unimaginable hardship, Mickey finally has what he’s always deserved — a home filled with love.

Today, he began a beautiful new chapter with a kind couple in the San Francisco Bay Area. It’s a Spanish-speaking household filled with warmth and compassion — the perfect environment for a dog who has seen too much heartbreak. His new family, originally from Central America, welcomed him with open arms. While Mickey started his life in Ukraine and learned English along the way, now he’ll be embraced in yet another language — the universal language of love.

He won’t be alone, either. Mickey has a new big sister, Luna — a sweet 10-year-old chihuahua who’s already showing him the ropes. We have no doubt these two will become the best of friends 🐶💕

But Mickey’s path to safety wasn’t easy.

He came from Bakhmut — a city that’s been devastated by war. Once, Mickey had a home and a family. But a Russian missile destroyed everything. When rescuers arrived, they found him hiding beneath the only thing left standing: the stove. Terrified, yet somehow still trusting, Mickey reached out to them for help 💔

Since then, he’s been with us, slowly learning to feel safe again. Over the past few months, he’s grown especially close to our director Mandy’s daughter — sleeping beside her every night, seeking comfort and warmth.

Letting him go wasn’t easy. There were many tears today. But those tears are mixed with joy, because we know Mickey’s future is bright. He will be loved, protected, and cherished — for the rest of his life ❤️
