From Gina to Orla – A Story of Survival, Strength and Love 💛🐶
We are happy to share a heartwarming update about Orla, formerly known as Gina – a true symbol of resilience and hope.
This morning, Orla had her usual run, and just like every day, she absolutely loved it. Watching her sprint freely, full of energy and joy, it’s hard to imagine the difficult start she had in life. She runs fast, confident and carefree – something that once seemed impossible for a tiny, fragile puppy fighting to survive.
Orla’s story began in Zhytomyr, where she was found abandoned as a small puppy together with her siblings during the freezing winter months. The cold was relentless, food was scarce, and survival on the streets was uncertain. Out of a litter of eight puppies, only Gina and three of her sisters managed to survive both the harsh conditions and a devastating battle with parvovirus – a disease that often proves fatal for street puppies.
Against overwhelming odds, Gina fought through weakness, illness, and fear. Her survival is nothing short of a miracle. Thanks to dedicated rescue efforts, urgent veterinary care, and compassionate support, she was given a second chance at life.
Today, Gina is Orla – a rescued dog who finally knows what safety feels like. She has a warm home, caring humans, and the freedom to simply be a happy dog. No more freezing nights. No more hunger. No more fear of the unknown. Instead, there are long walks, morning runs, gentle hands, and unconditional love.
Her transformation is a powerful reminder of why dog rescue matters. Every abandoned puppy deserves a chance. Every rescued dog deserves a future. Orla’s journey from a vulnerable street puppy in Ukraine to a beloved family member shows what compassion and responsible adoption can achieve.
Animal rescue in Ukraine remains critically important, especially during challenging times. Stories like Orla’s inspire us to continue supporting shelters, rescuers, and rehabilitation efforts. Behind every rescue dog is a story of survival – and the possibility of a new beginning.
Orla now runs not to escape danger, but simply because she loves to feel the wind and the joy of being alive. And that is the greatest victory of all. 💛
