Fighting for a Better Future for Rescue Dogs from Ukraine
As we celebrate reaching 10,000 followers on Facebook, we want to honor the incredible people behind Transform a Street Dog ❤️
This is Mandy Allen — our founder and director.
In 2018, Mandy spent several months living in Ukraine. During that time, she met Marina in the middle of a dog shelter, trying to help a dog named Nadia.
Marina was volunteering entirely on her own, paying out of pocket for flea treatments and taking care of dozens of dogs — sometimes more than 25 at once in her parents’ apartment.
Mandy looked at this and thought:
“These dogs deserve homes. If I can help get them to America, they’ll be adopted. And if I can raise awareness, maybe Marina won’t have to do this alone.”
When Mandy returned to San Francisco, she teamed up with her friend Jenna. Together, they officially founded the nonprofit Transform a Street Dog in late 2018 — shortly after Mandy became a mom herself.
Since then, Mandy has continued to lead the organization with unstoppable dedication, compassion, and a deep belief in second chances — for dogs and for people.
🙏 Today, we’re raising funds to bring Lordy to his forever home in the U.S. and to complete essential renovations at our shelter.
