Our beloved teammate Nina, who cares for 50 cats and 3 dogs — including one of our rescued dogs from Ukraine, Balalaika — just experienced a terrifying attack.
A Shahed drone crashed only 5 meters from her home in Kyiv, hitting a nearby building, catching fire, and exploding. Another drone struck just 1 km from her son’s school, setting cars ablaze and shattering windows in homes and classrooms.
And only 15 minutes away, a third attack destroyed part of an apartment block. Nina visited the site the next day to see the damage firsthand.
These Iranian-made Shahed drones are used by Russia to spread fear and devastation across Ukrainian cities.
🙏 We are deeply relieved that Nina and the animals are unharmed — but the trauma is real. She captured these harrowing moments in photos and videos.
