A Rescue Friendship That’s Saving Dogs from Ukraine
🎉 We just reached 10,000 followers on Facebook — thank you for being part of this journey! To celebrate, we’re spotlighting the incredible people behind our rescue — the real hearts and hands behind saving dogs from Ukraine.
💛 Meet Marina, one of the very first and most essential members of our team.
Back in the summer of 2018, Mandy — now our director — was pregnant with her son when she met Marina inside a struggling, corrupt Ukrainian shelter. Marina was there with a small group of volunteers who used their own money to buy flea and tick medication and traveled between shelters to care for neglected animals.
They didn’t know each other. But when Mandy noticed Marina was the only one who spoke English, she asked for help treating a few dogs she had just rescued — including one named Nadia, who had been taken to that same shelter.
In a beautiful twist of fate, five years later, Mandy and Marina — now close friends and rescue partners — brought Nadia to safety in Prague. The same dog that unknowingly united them also marked the beginning of a powerful mission.
Since that day, Marina has become a core part of our rescue work. Her love for animals, consistency, and compassion continue to save countless lives.
🙏 Today, we’re raising funds to help Lordy reach his forever home in the USA and to complete vital renovations at our shelter.
