About us

Transform a Street Dog has been on the ground in Ukraine supporting independent animal rescuers and rescuing homeless animals since 2018. After the war began, we switched gears, and started to organize mass evacuations of animals to enable them to escape the war and be adopted. Please help us to support pet owners, abandoned pets, neglected shelter dogs and suffering street dogs in Ukraine that have all been affected by the senseless Russian invasion of Ukraine and its people.

We need help from animal lovers like you to save more street dogs from suffering.

What do we do?

Our mission

What is the problem?

In Ukraine, a lack of shelters and sterilization programs has led to a large street dog population. Litters of puppies are often found abandoned in the streets, and adult dogs often suffer with untreated diseases and injuries.

As a result, some people see the dogs as a nuisance, and street dogs are often the target of being poisoned and shot in the streets.
Now, since Russia invaded Ukraine and started a war in February 2022, the situation has gone from bad to horrific. Thousands of animals were left abandoned in locked homes, defenseless pets were dropped in the streets, the shelters were occupied for weeks and hundreds of animals died of starvation.

There are many animal lovers who use their own time, money and resources to rescue injured dogs and abandoned puppies. These are regular citizens who are barely scraping by. Transform a Street Dog formed to give support to independent rescuers in Ukraine who fight for animals every day, with little to no resources.

Why we want to help?

Ukraine is a country full of animal rescuers desperate to help street animals, but they lack the support of the government or legitimate animal shelters. Since the war began, people are even more desperate for help.

Amidst these challenges, the dedication of these animal rescuers remains unwavering, as they continue to selflessly strive to improve the lives of these vulnerable creatures. However, the situation calls for greater attention and support from both local and international communities to alleviate the plight of these animals and work towards establishing a sustainable solution.

Together, we can make a positive impact on the lives of these innocent beings and bring about positive change in Ukraine’s animal welfare landscape. Let us stand with the animal rescuers, advocate for their cause, and foster a brighter and more compassionate future for these street animals in Ukraine. 🐾❤️🌍
