Story: Meet Bart! A Dog in Search of Care and Support.
This is Bart, an incredibly gentle and kind dog who longs for human attention and love. His story is one of survival, trust, and loss.
In the early months of the war, when fighting raged across Ukraine, this exhausted and emaciated dog wandered to a military checkpoint near the city of Uzhhorod, seemingly seeking help. Bart was dirty, thin, and tired, but his eyes carried a glimmer of hope - he was looking for safety among those who could protect him. The soldiers, moved by his gentle demeanor and desperation, couldn’t leave him behind. One soldier, in particular, became deeply attached to Bart and begged volunteers to save him. Thanks to this soldier’s determination, Bart came under our care. Tragically, this brave man, who gave Bart a chance at life, later lost his own while defending Ukraine.
Bart is our only purebred dog, a Hungarian Vizsla. He is graceful, energetic, and truly embodies the elegance of his breed. His striking appearance and sweet personality captivate everyone who meets him. Bart is intelligent, calm, and immediately friendly toward people. He doesn’t need time to adjust—he quickly trusts and accepts every new person he meets.
However, one significant challenge makes finding a home for Bart difficult—his strong zoo-aggression. He doesn’t get along with other animals, so Bart needs a family without other pets.
Bart is an active dog who requires regular physical and mental stimulation. Hungarian Vizslas are a breed known for their high energy and need for frequent, long walks, and Bart is no exception. He would thrive with people familiar with his breed who can provide the active lifestyle he needs.
Despite these challenges, we believe Bart deserves a chance. While we continue to search for the perfect home for him, we are doing everything we can to give him a comfortable life in our shelter. To make this possible, we need your support. You can become Bart’s sponsor and help us provide him with food, medical care, and a safe, loving environment where he can feel at peace.
