We have a new dog, and she just had her eyeball removed. Meet Taita!

We took her from the shelter in Lviv. In Ukraine, there is a program where a public service take homeless animals from the street, sterilizes them, vaccinates them, treats them, if necessary, and then puts a tag in their ears and sends them back to the street.

Unfortunately, injured dogs cannot survive on the streets of the city, and this could have happened to Taita as well- she was going to be returned to the street yesterday after losing an eye!

We do not know exactly what happened to Taita, but we know she was probably a pet that was dumped at a factory yard where other animals are also abandoned. Many dogs turn wild there because they have no other choice but to fight for survival. Taita found herself in this terribly scary place. What did she feel? Possibly she tried to hide.

People found her with a terrible eye injury. It is not known exactly when Taita received this injury but doctors had to remove the eye. The wounds healed and No one needed poor Taita, so per policy she was going to be returned to the scary, dangerous factory yard, but we couldn’t let that happen!

We are overflowing with dogs. But we managed, we came in time, we took her to our Stryi kennel (in Lviv region, near the Polish border)
