Update. The story of a dog from Chernihiv.
Our team worked very well together yesterday!
You may have seen our post about the poor dog from the nearly destroyed city of Chernihiv, Ukraine? He had a terrible wound all the way around his neck. Apparently, someone tied something around his neck and as he grew it cut into his neck causing a deep, infected wound. Our volunteer caught the dog and took him to a clinic in Kyiv. We thought it was a collar at first, but it was a rope that had hardened over time. The smell was so terrible; the wound had simply rotted.
It’s scary to think what pain this dog felt, he was silently wandering the streets with this terrible wound for probably 1-2 years. He was on the street when missiles hit buildings, sirens were blaring everyday, tanks drove in the street. Imagine how terrified he must have been. Nobody could or wanted to help him.
The wound was cleaned and bandaged, antibiotic injections and painkillers were prescribed for 10 days and bandages will need to be changed every day. The dog will need to stay in the clinic under the supervision of doctors for at least 10 days. It is a big extra expense, but we could not leave him like that. After his stay at the clinic he will come to our Kyiv kennel house where our team will take care of him until he is adopted.
We are asking for your help in saving one more life. We need help to pay for the dog’s clinic stay and all his care. If you are able to donate, we really appreciate it. If you are interested in adopting or fostering one of our 63 dogs or 40+ cats, please send us a DM.
PS: Our amazing volunteer, Karl is the one who found this dog and caught it him today to bring him to Kyiv for medical care. He named the dog Vishuddha, the Sanskrit word for the throat chakra, the energetic power center of the throat.
We are so happy he will be waking up safe and cared for today!
