From War Evacuations to a Loving Home

💛 An update on Zaza — and it’s the kind of update that reminds us why rescue is worth every challenge.

This beautiful girl is now enjoying another peaceful morning in the park with her family. ☀️🐾

Zaza loves spending time outdoors, exploring new scents, and enjoying off-leash adventures. Although, according to her family, she has one very funny habit. Every now and then, she suddenly decides that the park is nice enough and starts heading straight for home. 😂🏡

Why?

Because she absolutely adores her family.

For Zaza, home is her favorite place in the world. It’s where she feels safe, loved, and surrounded by the people she trusts most.

But life wasn’t always like this.

Many of our supporters may remember her by her former name, Zlata.

When the war reached Ukraine, Zaza’s future became uncertain overnight. She was living at the Big Heart shelter near Kyiv when the situation became increasingly dangerous. Like so many animals caught in the middle of the conflict, she suddenly found herself facing a future no one could predict.

To keep her safe, she had to be evacuated from the shelter.

Then, as the situation continued to evolve, she was evacuated once again — this time to the shelter in Stryi.

For many dogs, even a single move can be stressful and confusing. Zaza experienced multiple relocations, new environments, unfamiliar people, and constant uncertainty. Yet through it all, she remained resilient and hopeful.

And then, something wonderful happened.

The day every rescue dog dreams about finally arrived.

Zaza found her forever family. ❤️

A family that didn’t see her as just another shelter dog.

A family that chose her.
Loved her.
Believed in her.
And promised she would never have to face uncertainty again.

Today, more than three years later, Zaza is thriving.

She wakes up every morning knowing exactly where she belongs. She has a warm home, people who adore her, regular walks, and all the comfort and security she once could only dream about.

No more shelter kennels.
No more evacuations.
No more wondering what tomorrow will bring.

Instead, she has family.

Looking at her now — happy, confident, and full of personality — it’s hard to imagine the difficult journey that brought her here. But that’s exactly why updates like this mean so much to us.

Every rescue dog deserves a chance at a life like Zaza’s.

A life filled with safety instead of fear.
Love instead of uncertainty.
And a home where they will always belong.
