Ukraine’s Capital Hit by Deadliest Attack Since Summer 2024

In the dark hours of April 24, Ukraine was once again shaken by a brutal wave of violence. Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone strike targeting eight regions across the country—including Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Khmelnytskyi.

The capital city of Kyiv bore the worst of the attack. At least eight civilians have been confirmed dead, and more than 70 people were injured, among them children. The Sviatoshynskyi district was hit particularly hard, with a residential building completely destroyed, leaving behind a haunting image of twisted metal, shattered glass, and unimaginable loss.

This was the deadliest assault on Kyiv since July 2024, when a missile struck the Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital, devastating families and medical workers alike. Now, once again, the capital is mourning—grappling with the aftermath of a night that changed lives forever.

As rescue workers sift through the rubble and hospitals overflow with the wounded, Ukrainians are left asking how much more their people must endure. These attacks are not just about infrastructure—they are a relentless attempt to break the spirit of an entire nation. But time and again, the people of Ukraine rise—grieving, yes, but not giving in.

Every life lost is a name, a family, a story. And every life saved is a testament to the bravery of those on the frontlines of this horror. The world must not look away.
