Kraken
Meet Kraken. Yes, that’s really his name—it may sound a bit humorous, but it perfectly captures his character. Kraken is small but incredibly stubborn and feisty, which is part of his charm. He’s an older dog, and his eyes reflect both the life he’s lived and the pain he’s endured.
We don’t know much about Kraken’s life before he came to us. What we do know is that it must have been tough. A small dog living on the streets is always fighting to survive. Perhaps he was bullied by other dogs, or maybe people hurt him. Kraken is very wary of strangers and doesn’t get along with other dogs. His fear has turned into aggression—a defense mechanism forged by a world that has been unkind to him.
Kraken’s life took a turn when he was hit by a car. He was on the brink of death, but our team found him, provided medical care, and brought him back to health. Though he’s still cautious and distant, we can see that, deep down, he wants to be understood and loved.
Today, Kraken lives in our shelter in his very own little house—yes, he has his own home! One of our friends and volunteers gifted him a cozy little house, and we placed it inside our shelter. It’s his safe space, where he can rest, recover, and watch the world go by.
Unfortunately, due to his fear and dog aggression, Kraken’s chances of finding a forever family are slim. But we refuse to give up on him. Even if he spends the rest of his life with us, we want to ensure that it’s filled with care and comfort.
This is why Kraken needs a sponsor—someone who can help us provide him with everything he needs: food, medical care, and a warm, secure environment. And perhaps, someone who will be his distant friend, even if Kraken is not the kind of dog who will curl up on your lap.
Kraken is a reminder that even the most challenging personalities deserve love and compassion. If you would like to support this small but courageous dog, please consider becoming his sponsor. And if you’re ever in Kyiv, we’d love to welcome you to meet Kraken in his little house. He might not run up to you, but you’ll feel his gratitude in your heart.
Together, let’s give him the warmth and peace he deserves.
We need help from animal lovers like you to save more street dogs from suffering.
